PONY significa Product Of New York ed è lì che ha le sue radici. Nasce nel 1972 fondata da Roberto Mueller e nel ’77 50 giocatori NBA decidono di passare a PONY. Reazioni contrastanti portarono attenzione sul brand, grazie anche a una massiccia promozione al Pro Rucker, e le Top Star (inizialmente chiamate Starter) furono il loro primo modello.
